Meet the Instructors

Jacob Hill

Head Instructor

Jacob has a true passion for the game of golf. Some of his earliest memories are from spending time at golf courses and golf shops with his father Bert who has worked in various roles in the golf industry on the Emerald Coast for 30 years. During this time Jacob was exposed to many experienced PGA Professionals and instructors.

After working on cart staff and in the pro shop in his high school years at Sharks Tooth Golf Club. Jacob accepted his 1st Assistant Golf Professional job at Pensacola Country Club. During his time at PCC he learned more about the business of golf as well as building on his knowledge of the golf swing and club fitting.

Jacob then had the opportunity to return to Sharks Tooth and Camp Creek Golf Club under "The Clubs by Joe" as an Assistant Golf Professional where he continued to built on his knowledge of the golf swing while also managing both course's cart staff as well as assisting with the merchandising of both pro shops.

Now as the Head Golf Professional at Indian Bayou Golf Club, Jacob is focused on sharing his knowledge of the golf swing and ready to help all skill levels of golfers to enjoy the game as much as he does.

Jacob also serves as the Head Golf Coach for both the Boy's Golf Team at Destin High School.

When Jacob is not on the Golf Course he enjoys spending time with family especially his wife Tarajoy and their dogs.

Jonathan Kattine

Assistant Instructor

Jonathan started his life in golf at the early age of two years old when his father John who picked up the game in his 30s made custom golf clubs to give to his son.

Jonathan has been around the golf course all his life and even got a special membership at his local municipal golf club in Fort Walton Beach Florida when he was 4 years old. Jonathan played golf at Niceville high school as a junior and a senior.   Jonathan didn't play college golf but instead explored his second passion of art and graduated with a Bachelors of Fine Arts in 2019.

He then went on to get a job at Rocky Bayou County Club in Niceville Florida as a cart attendant after the Covid-19 pandemic put any hopes of an art career to a halt.  At this job he rediscovered the love for the  game he grew up playing and quickly moved up from carts to work in the pro shop where he was shown his first taste of the golf business.

A little less than a year later Jonathan took the opportunity to work as a cart attendant at Indian Bayou Golf Club a course as a local he always cherished when he had the opportunity to play. At this point Jonathan knew he wanted a career in golf and to pass his passion on to others who want to play the game he loves. About a year later he had become the Assistant Golf Professional. Being the Assistant Golf Professional working under Head Golf Professional Jacob Hill and Director of Golf Jim Carpenter Jonathan couldn't be more excited to learn from these two talented   and experienced individuals and pass on the knowledge he learns.

Jonathan thoroughly loves the teaching process as well. in fact, looks at it as a form of art. His main goal is to grow the game  and help improve anyone wanting to play golf regardless of skill level.

When Jonathan is not on the golf course you'll find him creating art, fishing with his best friend, or his favorite spending time with his fiance Aurora and his two dogs.

TESTIMONIALS

"During lessons, Jacob has the ability to listen to your concerns, observe your swing, and then provide recommended changes and show you techniques that has helped improve my swing significantly. He makes you feel at ease during instruction and provides sound advice throughout the lesson. I’m around a 12 handicap and in just two lessons, my swing is solid and more consistent, and I’m scoring lower. But more importantly, I feel very comfortable when addressing the ball now and his instruction has improved my overall confidence on the course. If your desire is to improve your game and to be more competitive in your group, then I highly recommend Jacob for lessons. You won’t be disappointed."

Had my first real professional lesson with Jacob. I can't express enough how comfortable I felt, no pressure just positivity! We worked hard for an hour on my issues and to be honest I wasn't fully sold on the tweaks. It felt awkward and forced for me. Just a week later of trusting his advice and committing fully to the process, I can honestly say I've never hit the ball so consistently with amazing ball flights! Needless to say I'm very excited to get my next lesson, and continue to improve my game!
